Apologies for the hiatus! Yes, this website is still active and I will be refreshing it soon. I moved cross country so I was delayed and rethinking this initiative. Today’s topic is when to have a chart reading and also types of chart readings. Although the natal chart is based on a specific time, date, and location of birth it is not static. Both Western and Vedic Astrology acknowledge, albeit differently, that one develops over time and the chart changes. A chart reading at age 15 is not the same as age 40, nor should it be! In Vedic Astrology there is the Dasha periods which focus on certain planets and areas of your life in stages while in Western Astrology there is a technique call progressions which the planets move within your chart to give a different impact. For example, if your Venus is in Aries but moves through progression technique into Taurus at age 25, you will be more apt to be fixed in love and settle down. One can review their natal chart over different periods of time and new facets will be revealed. In part knowledge comes when you are ready to receive it. So if you had a chart reading years ago, go back and try it again and I bet you will find new information. As we age we change our focus as well, so your questions will be different too.
Beyond the natal chart reading, which if you can try both Vedic and Western, are different but complimentary. The next common reading is your Solar Return, an annual reading around your birthday. It is a snapshot of your chart at the time the sun is in the same degree as your birth, and yet everything else will be different. This can alert you to trends in the upcoming year. Every planet has a return but the Sun is annual , while Jupiter is every 12 years, Saturn about 30 years. Note, based on your natal chart and current interests the Sun may not be the planet return to follow, but maybe your chart ruler instead. If you compare your natal chart to the current positions of the planets (called transits) to the areas of your life (houses) you will find where you will expand (Jupiter) have challenges and responsibilities (Saturn) or just make changes (North and South Nodes of Moon). So this can be helpful. Another use of charts is choosing a good luck day for an event – or avoiding a difficult ones, this is a good reference to check in from time to time. Although some planet transits are big (think Jupiter Saturn Conjunction) or the upcoming Mars – North Node- Uranus conjunction, and can be linked to world events, these events may or may not impact your life. So these are more ideas to think about as you explore your chart.
